    • BC Public Sector

This arrangement is for the Defibtech Lifeline Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and related accessories, maintenance and training services.

AEDs are small, portable, and easy-to-use devices designed to increase the probability of survival of people in cardiac arrest. According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, when an AED is immediately available, the chance of survival from sudden cardiac arrest can increase by 75% or more over CPR on its own.

These devices are intended to be placed in offices or other work areas and may be used by trained medical and non-medical individuals. The CSA holder, MediQuest, offers the applicable training.

Organizations considering purchasing these devices should review Occupational Health and Safety Guideline G3.17(1)-1 Implementing an early defibrillation program in the workplace available at: http://www2.worksafebc.com/Publications/OHSRegulation/GuidelinePart3.asp
